Tyres HQ

Daniel Hartley

Founder & Editor-in-Chief

Founder of Tyres HQ

Founded Tyres HQ to give UK drivers straight, honest tyre advice with no jargon and no sales pressure. Daniel grew up in his father's independent tyre garage, reading sidewalls before he could drive, and kept getting asked the same question by friends and family: what tyres should I actually buy? There was never one clear, trustworthy place to point them, so he built one. He sets the editorial standards every guide is held to, decides which topics the site covers, and brought together the fitters, garage owner, MOT tester and writers who check the advice. His rule for the whole site is simple: every guide has to be the answer he would give a friend.

How Daniel works at Tyres HQ

Daniel signs off the editorial standards for the whole site and decides which topics get covered and how. He reads the buying-advice guides most closely, since that is where drivers are easiest to mislead, and he keeps a clear line between honest recommendation and sales pressure. Nothing goes out under a structure or standard he has not approved.

Every guide on Tyres HQ goes through two people before it is published: a subject specialist who reviews the advice against real-world experience, and our managing editor who checks every fact, figure and tyre size against its source. We work from official UK sources and independent tyre tests, and never publish a number we cannot stand behind.

You can read how this works in our editorial guidelines and in how we review tyres. Spotted something that looks wrong? Our corrections policy explains how to tell us.
